Today a high-speed train traveling through West Bengal crushed and killed
an elephant that was crossing the tracks. A Forest Department official
said that the Indian railway is looking into the cause of the accident,
though the "cause" seems pretty clear from the photo. According to
Reuters, "This is the sixth reported incident of an elephant being
killed by
speeding trains in the region where the train route passes through an
area close to the Gorumara National Park."
