 Tragedy struck a family when four of them were 
killed after an oncoming KSRTC bus rammed into their car near Bendekere 
on Arasikere – Banavara road on Monday morning. The lone survivor of the
 family Nagamma has been rushed to Bangalore for treatment of serious 
injuries she sustained, police said.

on Arasikere – Banavara road on Monday morning. The lone survivor of the
 family Nagamma has been rushed to Bangalore for treatment of serious 
injuries she sustained, police said. The victims were identified as Bette Gowda (62), a retired employee of KEB, his son Jagadish (30), daughter-in-law Kumuda (27) and one and a half year old grandson Dhanush. Bette Gowda’s wife Nagamma survived the horrific road accident with serious injuries.
The family hailed from a village near Jog in Shimoga district and had settled in Kengeri area in Bangalore. They had had gone Jog for a weekend and were on their way back to Bangalore, when the bus rammed into the car around 10 a.m. The bus driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Bette Gowda was driving the car, police said.
Banavara police have registered the case. Driver of the KSRTC bus, moving from Bangalore to Shimoga, is missing. The police have seized the bus and initiated further inquiry into the incident.
