Two women among three vegetable vendors were killed and eight other were injured when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Krishnappa, former Bommanahalli Municipality chairman ran over them at Parappana Agrahara junction on Hosur road on Monday night.
The suspect accused Krishnappa fled from the scene abandoning his vehicle. Based on eyewitness accounts, the police said he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The victims were identified as Indrani (40), Pushparani (45) and Vijay (35). Eight other road side vendors were also injured. After the vehicle ran over them, all the injured were rushed to St. John’s hospital, where the doctors declared the three victims were brought dead.
The case has been taken up by Parappana Agrahara police and it has been registered under Culpable Homicide against Krishnappa and they have a set out a search for him
