11 killed as bus rams into truck in KURNOOL,andhrapradesh




  The private bus which was involved in a road accident near Allagadda in Kurnool district on Sunday.



Eleven persons were killed and 10 were injured when a private bus rammed into a stationary truck near Allagadda in Kurnool district in the early hours of Sunday.
The accident occurred five kilometres from Allagadda town on the National Highway No 18 when the bus (AP 04W 4689) hit the stationary truck around 4.30 a.m.
The bus owned by Sivasai Travels was on its way from Hyderabad to Madanapalle. Most of the victims hailed from Kadapa and included a Probationary Deputy SP Reddy Giridhar, who was to take charge as the sub-divisional police officer at Nandyal, hardly 40 km from the spot of the accident in a few days.
According to reports, the crew of the lorry (AP 21U 3639) was taking rest in the open area after parking the truck alongside the road.
The bus driver who had no clear vision could not control the bus at its top speed.
The left portion of the bus was completely chopped off from the head to tail following the accident. The passengers seated in two rows on the left side of the bus bore the brunt of the mishap.
The deceased were identified as Keerthi Reddy (B. Tech student from Kadapa), Prabhakar Reddy (Ramapuram, Kadapa), Swaroop Raj (Kadapa), Hasan Basha, Urdu daily reporter, Dinesh Reddy (Nanndavole, Siddavatam), Nagendra (Vallur, Kadapa), Reddy Giridhar (Kadapa), Ramanachari (Kadapa), Venkat Reddy (Siddavatam), Mamata (Hyderabad) and Venkata Krishna (bus cleaner).
Following the accident, the bodies were strewn to a distance of 100 metres along the road. Those who survived had severe wounds with serious fractures or limbs cut off.
Lucky escape A five-year-old boy from Chittoor district had a miraculous escape while his mother suffered serious injuries.
Allagadda MLA Sobha Nagireddy and other officials rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operations. The bodies were shifted to Nandyal for post-mortem.
