In a ghastly road accident three pilgrims including two children were killed and two others sustained grievous injuries when the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident on the first ghat road leading to Tirupati. The accident took place on the 24th curve on the ghat road when the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle which fell into a thirty feet deep gorge after hitting the parapet wall. All the twelve commuters on board including the driver of the jeep suffered injuries. While Rajeswari (25) native of Mysore and Sandeep (9) and his younger brother Srinivas (6) of Chembur in Bidar taluk in Karnataka were killed in the accident the other two whose condition remained critical were later shifted to the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) at Tirupati. Meanwhile the condition of the other pilgrims recuperating at the government-run SVRR hospital is said to be stable. The TTD management announced an ex gratia of Rs. 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Sangareddy Staff Reporter adds: Four Persons were killed, two of them on the spot, and five others injured in a road accident that took place at Beeramguda in Ramachandrapuram mandal of Medak district. According to Ramachandrapuram Circle Inspector G. Srinivas, a private bus hit a passenger auto. While Lakshma Reddy (60) and Paul (55) were killed on the spot, another two persons – Jyothi (18) and Veeramani (60) died in a private hospital. Five persons including the auto driver are being treated in hospital. Bodied were shifted to Government Hospital at Sangareddy for postmortem. Ramachandrapuram police registered a case and are investigating.
