At least five people were killed and 10 injured as seven bogies of the Dehradun bound Doon Express derailed on the outskirts of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. About half a dozen critically injured passengers were being shifted to Varanasi while the others were admitted to Jaunpur hospital for treatment. The rest of the passengers were stranded on the track in sweltering heat. Locals said the toll was higher as five bogies had completely overturned. The incident took place around 1:20 pm near the Meharwan railway station when the train was heading towards Dehradun from Hawrah. |
