Eight killed in road accidents,Five techies from Chennai die on the spot near Tirupati

The mangled mass of the jeep which collided head-on with a truck near Yerpedu on Tirupati-Srikalahasti highway on Sunday.
Five persons died on the spot and three others seriously injured in a ghastly collision between a jeep and a truck near Yerpedu on the Tirupati-Srikalahasti highway on Sunday. Condition of one of the injured, all rushed to the Government-SVRR General Hospital, Tirupati, is stated to be critical.
According to the Yerpedu police, all the deceased, said to be employees of a Chennai-based software company, Sify Technology, were on their way to Srikalahasti for darshan after completing their pilgrimage to Tirumala.
The accident scene presented a gory sight with human parts and flesh strewn all around and blood splattered all over. The lorry after hitting the jeep, hurtled down the road embankment for some distance and stopped only after ploughing through a road side farm field. The driver of the lorry is said to be absconding.
Those identified as dead are: Karthik, S. Satish, Jayamurthy, Vasimraj and Sathish (driver of the local jeep hired by the ill-fated pilgrim party.
Tractor overturns
Nalgonda correspondent writes: Three of the seven tribal labourers travelling in a tractor carrying electric poles were killed when the vehicle capsized on the outskirts of Shobanadrigudam in Kodad police limits on Sunday. The driver was among the three persons injured.
One of them was referred to a hospital in Khammam, the police said.
The victims were identified as Loudia Thavuria (50), Bukya Balu(35) and Bhanot Sreenu(40) of Peekla Naik thanda.
The accident occurred when the driver switched off the vehicle as the road was steep. He lost control due to load of electric poles and the tractor overturned killing the three on the spot.
The post-mortem was conducted at the Kodad Government Hospital. The bodies were handed over to the relatives later.
