Son, grandson of Bhatkali teacher die in Belgaum accident.


Two members of a same family lost their lives in an accident in Kangla (Hukkeri taluk) in Belgaum district on Sunday evening. Salman Moosa Shaikh (30) and his son Abaan Slaman Shaikh (4) died on the spot while 5 people were injured when their car smashed into the rear side of trailer carrying scooters.

According to sources, the passengers were on their way to Vishalgarh (near Kolapur) from Bhatkal when the incident occurred. Police officials have identified the car registration number as KA-30 M 2479 and TN 39 BH 3999 of the Truck.

Salman was the son of Fathima Moosa Shaikh who is a retired government teacher and currently the head mistress of the Madar-e-Hawwa school, Bhatkal.

Salman had returned to Bhatkal from Dubai a week ago after a long spell.

The incident occurred at around 4:00 PM on Sunday on the National highway 4 (Puna-Bangalore NH).




The injured have been identified as : Raina Qaisar Salman Shaikh (25) and Noorjaan Ahmed Shaikh (45) from Bhatkal, Ashfiya Gaus Mohiddin (15) and Almi Jawa (13) both from Hangal, also the driver Nauman.

Miraculously, an infant of a year has escaped without any injuries. The injured are being treated in the KLE hospital.

Hukkeri CPI Nagraj, Sankeshwar PSI Ramachandra Bellari amongst other police officials rushed to the spot soon after the accident. After examining the scene, the bodies were shifted to the Sankeshwar Govt hospital for Post Mortem.

A case has been registered at Sankeshwar Police Station.
