 
                                           
                                                            
The Tirupati-Bangalore highway witnessed yet another accident for the 
third consecutive day on Monday. A Toyota Qualis collided with a lorry 
head-on in the wee hours, killing six persons on the spot and one while 
undergoing treatment besides leaving one injured.
                                           
All the victims belonged to Kongara Kalaan village in Ibrahimpatnam 
mandal of Ranga Reddy district, who were on their way to Tirupati on 
pilgrimage from Sabarimala in Kerala. When they reached C.Mallavaram on 
the outskirts of the city at 4.55 a.m. the vehicle drifted towards the 
right edge of the road and rammed into the lorry, which was proceeding 
towards Chittoor. Those aboard Qualis-- D.Rangaiah (38), G.Lakshmi 
Narayana (42), Saravaiah (52), K.Yadaiah (58), N.Satyanarayana (55) and 
driver Vishnu Kumar (30)-- died on the spot, while N.Chennaiah (60) 
succumbed while undergoing treatment at Ruia hospital. Another injured 
person N. Rajendra Prasad (28) was shifted to SVIMS, where his condition
 was stated to be stable. Two other accidents have occurred on this very
 stretch near Chandragiri in the last two days, involving a KSRTC bus 
and a lorry.
