Ten of family killed in Rajasthan road accident

The family was heading towards their home town Khandela when the driver of the van lost control on the Jaipur-Sikar road and rammed into a parked truck

Ten members of a family, including three children, were killed when the van they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck in Rajasthan Friday, police said. A senior police officer told IANS that the accident occurred near Reengus in Sikar district, some 80 km from here. The condition of four people is stated to be critical, he added. "One of the victims had returned from Saudi Arabia after several years, and the family members had gone to pick him up from Jaipur airport," the officer said.
They were heading towards their home town Khandela when the driver of the van lost control on the Jaipur-Sikar road and rammed into a parked truck. "Nine of the victims died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries in hospital. Four others who sustained injuries are undergoing treatment at Jaipur's SMS Hospital," the officer said.

LAHORE: At least 11 people lost their lives and over 30 others sustained injuries in early morning roadside accidents in southern Punjab areas blanketed by dense fog, CNBC Pakistan reports Wednesday.

The accidents transpired owing to the dense fog leaving the visibility to the minimum on roads posing serious threats of accidents in most parts of the country as the winter is expanding its foothold.

According to details, a pickup and a passenger bus collided in Bahawalpur where five people were killed on the spot and eight others injured.

The injured and bodies have been shifted to nearby Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur. The deceased include a child, a man and three women. All the deceased and the injured people hail from a single family residing in Janwala.

The family was on its way back from attending a funeral in Karachi.

In another tragic mishap, three female students were killed and two others injured in a collision between their school van and a truck near Gondlawala area of Gujranwala. The injured and bodies were shifted to District Hospital.

The drivers of trailer and passenger wagon fled the accident scene.

Meantime, two brothers riding a motorbike were killed when their bike was hit by a car on fog-covered MM Road in the limit of Kot Addu between district Muzaffargarh and Layyah.

In another mishap of crash between a car and a pickup on Khanewal Road in Vehari, a man was killed and seven others including a woman were injured.

It should be mentioned here that the traffic on National Highway has been suspended owing to the overwhelming fog in Muzaffargarh, posing serious troubles for the commuters, as four more people were injured when two trailers bumped into each other on Alipur Road.
