
The car that was badly damaged in a road accident in Ongole on Friday.
It was believed that Peddiboyina Vuyyur, 36, who was driving the car, might have dozed off and lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into the lorry, killing himself, his wife Sunita, 27, and daughter Tejasri, 5, on the spot.
According to the police, Vuyyur owned a JCB service centre in Vijayawada. His mother-in-law Yenamadala Vijayalakshmi lived with her son, daughter-in-law and their children at Chillakallu near Jaggaiahpet in Krishna district. The family started from Jaggaiahpet, picked up the family of Vuyyur in Vijayawada and then went to Tirupati. The car was returning with eight members of the family, including three children, when the accident occurred.
It was stated that the lorry was going from Chennai to Khammam carrying newsprint. As the driver felt sleepy, he stopped the vehicle on the extreme left margin of the road at Sitaramapuram for tea. Even as they were readying to leave, the accident occurred.
The car going at 70-80 kmph rammed into the lorry. The front portion of the car was badly damaged. The injured persons were rushed to Vijayawada where the condition of one child was said to be critical.
